The song that stirs the mind and awakens it to a level of sudden reverence for the country, the familiar verse, whose meaning not many know, yet, every time its played, some sense in the distant mind, that makes you feel proud to be proud to be part of a nation. A song that commands and ode, indirectly.
It was one of those candid moments during this guest lecturer/workshop today when we were made to listen to the national anthem, AR Rahman’s instrumental version. Everyone in class, till now sitting, feel uncomfortable, and finally we all decide to stand, as a mark of respect [?!] for the anthem. A filmsy moment? Or is that patriotism?
I love the song, for what it does to me. For it brings the sense of belonging to a nation, it somehow makes me feel sad, melancholic? Oh maybe just my weird mood!
Liberation, sense of achievement, of the silent creases of power, some pause in the mad life it doth create!
Hmm, senti? Probably!
Was that what it was intended to be? The poet alone knows [despite the various theories]…. That it was originally intended to mean differently, and how it’s taken to be… is a world by itself.
Yet, nothing more apt as Jana Gana Mana, in terms of composition and verse, for a nation, as mine.
Is it respect for the nation or an obligation to sense that you are part of a geographic group? Objectively speaking, it’s nothing great, just another song, which soothes the mind and calms the spirit.[?!]
Is it national at all?
It’s the anthem…!

Well aleast you stood up. For the generation Y it means nothing.. sadly we belong to the category. But I’m just hopin that out love for this nation wont be just because people are looking at you and you dont want to have a had name. I guess all it takes for a start is to stand, with out a second thought.
