Religious fanfare.

This picture, shows people and the bugle band outside a church behind my house.

Situation: The bugle’s playing that “mayilirage” song from the tamil movie “Anbae Aruyire”.

I seriously couldn’t decipher the reason behind these people playing THAT song, at the beginning of a procession [Some church fest]!!!

Why I posted this here: Try and rant about how religion is in many situations a namesake… [Dunno why just can't go beyond that point! I hope what I intended to convey came across.]

Well, this incident just sparked that thought, and I VERY well know how there are hundreds of instances, always,as such; peaking during festivals!

Am not referring to any particular religion, but people sometimes seem so lost between religion, faith, and “acquired practices” as this.

This was immediate and I could capture it. Probably some point in life, will write an elaborate post on this!

Guess, it’s the age when:

Krishna Krishna, Hayyo Krishna, Yennoda Favourite-u God-u Ni”
ONna, Renda! Girlfriends-u thaan…”

Translated:

‘Krishna Krishna, Your my Favourtite God’
‘One or two! so many girlfriends!’

[Song from the movie DumDumDum] will be playing in Temples during Krishna Jayanthi!

I so very love this!!! I prefer my three times a day praying session, quietly at home!

Forgot to mention their antics: They kinda saw me taking pics, perhaps that’s why they immediately stopped that Mayilirage song, and switched to “KaLlanae,Deyveega…” song[Christian Devotional]. Was damn funny. It was like in a moment of realisation it dawned on them that they were playing for the festivities of a church and not a wedding reception.

But these guys are exceptions that way. I’ve still seen those crowds, that have BLARING film music playing during festivals et al.

Ponder: Did “God” ask for any of this? Whatever is religion! I prefer faith that’s contained. Though that’s unachievable.

Next time I hear such, I plan to go and stop them, or atleast question them!

Yawn – 001 – Reserved for reservations.

I start my Yawn series with the auspicious reservation ‘issue’, that’s been so hyped that it’s got international coverage as well.

Every one writes, everyone protests, everyone voices opninions.

Good.

But, make me yawn. It’s the same old recycled stuff they write, the protests haven’t achieved great things apart form media mileage, and the people’s [useless] support.

Accept the system and fight it, instead of raising these issues, pointlessly.

And, am happy now, that the government has come forthright and said it WILL implement it!
I hope all those protestors realise the futility of their struggle, and understand it’s going to be implemented only June next year, and the government is open to negotiations on the plight of students other than OBC’s.

As for me, I only hope they and the media, don’t make me yawn anymore. I know, because I may not be affected by it, and even if in future it affects me, I’d take a cautious step, to make sure my credentials are high, and that can fetch me my seat/position over the SC/ST. Am fortunate, thats been the case with me always.

So I say, Fight the system when you’re in it, rather than agitating before it has even been implemented. I really think this reservation policy, will be a good move!!! Think of it, it’s going to be a competitive world, and your abilities are being gambled, and you have to learn to survive, to win!

[ok, i know i crapped towards the end.]

How Pakistan treats its rape victims

How Pakistan treats its rape victims

-This is one of the most SAD headlines rediff can give for a report. The rape victim was ill-treated all right, but I see NO difference in the way an Indian rape victim is treated [I have some basis for that statement, not a blind one].

It’s not a question of how each country treats its victims, but more to do with how little people understand a rape victim’s psyche. Each country has innumerable stories to tell about ill-treatment and the like, that never should be a question.

I was a bit irritated to see how Rediff gave such an illogical headline for its article!

-

I purposely don’t want to go into the details of the rape victim’s [Shazia] plight, because I’m pretty much sure, any human in his senses would definitely understand and react to it. My post was aimed at Rediff’s headline, to be specific. Beacuse, in one of my previous posts, I’d referred to Pakistan’s “DAWN” newspaper coming down on Indians, this was to say, Indian news services aren’t better either.

This kind of reporting, when it doesn’t really reflect the country, is not what journalism is about. And a bit insane to make a singular case of Rape and ill-treatment, a plural, as the headline implies.

Indian law understands knows what trauma is? I kinda doubt that Especially when it says a husband is not punishable for his wife’s suicide, despite him beng responsible for it [ 2 years of abuse they call it].

Immunity to insanity is at times the best option, I realise, atleast with respect to news.

Apologise if the post was a random demented read, wrote it in a hurry.

Arbit artery

Have you heard of intellectuals who will deny no matter what, that a person is not guilty? The best part is the person in question would have agreed that they are guilty, and yet we’d have saint-like souls, who think their word is the final and ultimate truth, clamp for that person.

Traffic police appointed “Bike and Car Towing specialists” need some magnifying glasses to read signals themselves. They couldn’t damn see that the parking sign showed “Park on both sides”, and they had to prick on two bikes ONLY, of all the 10 bikes! Yes, fortunately[?!] mine was one of them.

All they expect is some “Matter”, athu irrundha pothum[That's more than enough] and then, the official state [pun intended] coffers, will have their “rounds” with your “dhanam”, offering, go to the local sarayam kadai [Arrack shop], and harass souls there, get some more matter to shop for their family and the chain goes on…

Let them survive, BUT, NOT FROM my wallet that already has a lot of breathing space, and worse still, when they or their attendants can’t read sign boards themselves.

I thought I could lodge a complaint, but it’s worthless.

Advice Time: [Based on today's official bribe-giving experience]

If any cop/attendant raises his/her folded hand in that “yabba sami, vendaam pa” [Ayyo, i don't want anything to do with that] pose, you must take it as a sign that they indeed want it. A little more persuasion will save you hundred ruppes of the three hundred rupee fine. Think about it bribe or honesty at a price? Worse honesty for no wrong on your part.

Thalai Vali poydthu-nu sandosham-a irrukanum [You should be happy the head-ache's left you], instead of sitting around and trying to explain to them that you did not park at the wrong place.

Sucks I know.

And that experience marks my official entry into the funny way in which one should give bribes and coax people to accept it.

And I hope this rant was of some use, to some soul who may get itself into a similar position, whenever.

COMMENT: Child sacrifice and Tantric Hinduism — Ishtiaq Ahmed

COMMENT: Child sacrifice and Tantric Hinduism — Ishtiaq Ahmed

Jews, Christians and Muslims are agreed that such an incident took place, although Jews and Christians assert that Abraham chose his son Isaac for the sacrifice while Muslims believe that the other son, Ishmael, was offered to God. However, only Muslims continue with the tradition and millions of goats, sheep, lambs, cows and camels are slaughtered every year to celebrate the sunnah (tradition) of Abraham. I would not be surprised if suicide bombers in particular are told this story to prepare them to offer their lives for Allah.

Excuse me, please tell me in what way are those fellow living beings lesser than us? Just because we maybe of a superior race [human] doesn’t mean those animals can be killed.

However, that wasn’t in support of child sacrifice. Anyway, if the Bible were to be a factual book, then sacrifices did exist long before, aplenty at that!

A few months ago, I saw on the Zee TV some flashes of a programme in which the famous actress Hema Malini performed a dance, either in the role of Kali or a devotee to her. She looked truly frightening with her horrible make-up and her tongue all red to indicate blood. I remember feeling very uneasy at the macabre performance.

I prefer that morons who don’t understand or can’t appreciate Indian art to shut up, no one wanted their opinion anyway!

And it’s not the religious texts that preach child sacrifice!!! These are stigmas people build to promote personal benefit, coming up with idiosyncratic relations between Tantric Hinduism, and child sacrifice is ridiculous! I don’t damn care if I sound like a crass biased ass, but matter of fact, your allegation is as idiotic as what the followers of your religion resort to as “Jihad”, holy war!?!?! What kinda oxymoron is that! And you have the audacity to call something “medieval”, when that ‘holy war’ shit is barbaric, or better put, primitive!

I DON’T support child sacrifice, and condemn the act, blah blah, yet, must be remembered the religion as such is NOT at fault, it’s individuals, who are forced to believe that that’s what the religion preaches

Yeah educated morons always tend to think they can come up with very fanciful comparisons and assume the audience will take any shit they try to fart! When the correlated items don’t lend themselves to sense! Perhaps they need to be introduced to tantrism that will take them to a different level, where they won’t gain pleasure from anything, but keep prolonging the act of talking intellectual crap.

But the article coming from Daily Times, a Pakistan daily, isn’t quite a surprise, considering some people would jump at any opportunity to thrash anything ‘Indian’, baselessly.

Post-script: I know the above post was a piece of shit.

Arbit observation: It sucks big time when you are possessive, and that too only some [people in this case], are victims of it. And you find the person bears the brunt of your ‘possessed’ activities. Argh! I pity those poor souls. Sorry? Hmm…
